Prepared Microscope Slides: Animals & Birds Specimen

Introduction

This tutorial is set to introduce students to the common characteristics of the animal specimen. The learners will observe the specimen structures from the microscope of the 12 different slides which includes Cat hair, Plankton egg, Rabbit hair, horse hair and many more.

Setting up the Microscope and slides

1. Carefully unpack the microscope from the box. Then place it on a table with an even base.
2. Connect the USB cable of the microscope to your laptop.
3. Open camera in the laptop and select the camera option on the top left (In my laptop there is a camera rotation option after I have connected the microscope successfully.)
4. Now, place a white sheet of paper under the microscope and adjust the focus of microscope till you get a clear image of the white sheet of paper (Sometime there will be a problem with setting up of the camera try replugging the microscope USB.)
5. Carefully place the slide under the microscope and change the focus of the microscope till you get the clear zoomed image of the slide.

Output

The output images of the slides are shown below with the respective slide names.

Note: The images on the left are 25 X  focused and the one on the right is 800 X  focused.

1.  Cat Hair: This slide sample shows the focused image of cat hair using the microscope. 
2. Plankton Egg: This slide sample shows the focussed image of Plankton egg using a microscope.
3. Rabbit Hair:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Rabbit Hair using the microscope.
4. Sheep Hair: This slide sample shows the focussed image of Sheep Hair using the microscope.
5. Cow Hair:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Cow Hair using the microscope.
6. Duck Feather:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Duck Feather using the microscope.
7. Canary Feather:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Canary Feather using the microscope.
8. Horse Hair:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Horse Hair using the microscope.
9. Pigeon Feather:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Piegon Feather using the microscope.
10. Fowl Feather:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Fowl Feather using the microscope.
11. Sardine Scale:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Saradine Scale using the microscope.
12. Goldfish Scale:  This slide sample shows the focussed image of Goldfish Scale using the microscope.

Alert: Please handle the slides with care. While placing the slides make sure that you don’t touch the specimen area with your bare hands.
