All About WSRO 2025

All About WSRO Quarky Track 2025

The World STEM and Robotics Olympiad (WSRO) isn’t just a competition; it’s a movement that brings together young innovators from around the globe to tackle tomorrow’s problems today. With a mission to empower students through STEM, WSRO gives learners a dynamic platform to showcase their talent in AI, robotics, IoT, automation, and sustainable innovation.

In 2025, WSRO India is launching its Regional Competitions, leading up to a national celebration of young science and tech talent. Backed by STEMpedia and the Happiness Reserves Foundation, this year’s competition is set to be even more impactful, with new challenges that align with real-world issues and futuristic tech.

What’s New This Season in WSRO 2025?

Two brand-new tracks are launching for WSRO 2025:

  1. Industry 4.0 Challenge
Explore the evolving world of automation, AI, IoT, and robotics. Students will be challenged to create solutions that reflect the needs of a rapidly transforming global tech landscape.
  2. Young Scientist Energy SR Challenge
Powered by the versatile Quarky Kit, this track focuses on energy innovation and sustainable solutions. It’s a call to young engineers to use their skills to create a cleaner, smarter world.

With a theme centered around curiosity and cutting-edge tech, this year’s WSRO isn’t just a competition; it’s where tomorrow’s leaders are engineered. To outperform your competition in these challenges, you can draw inspiration from the listed projects made by Quarky:

  1. Quarkdrive: Intelligent mobility solution using Quaky – The project shows a smart city on a map with places like a school, sanctuary, café, and hospital. The main part of the project is a smart car that uses AI to move around the city.
  2. Revolutionizing Agriculture using Quarky – This project uses PictoBlox and Quarky together to make things work smoothly and easily. The Quarky is controlled by a mobile phone, and special code helps guide its actions. With this setup, farmers can sow seeds and spray pesticides just by tapping on their phones.
  3. Safecross Assistive Solution for Visually Impaired Pedestrians – The student-led project, Smart Traffic Light for Visually Impaired Individuals, was made to improve road safety and help visually impaired people cross streets. It uses Quarky, PictoBlox, and Google’s Teachable Machine with pose detection to spot when someone is crossing the road.

Why Schools Should Participate In WSRO 2025

For schools that have embraced STEM education through AI, robotics, and hands-on coding labs, WSRO 2025 is more than just a competition; it’s a platform to showcase student learning, innovation, and school pride on a national stage.

Whether you’ve established an AI and Robotics Lab with Quarky and PictoBlox, or are part of a school that has introduced coding through interactive modules, this is the perfect opportunity to:

  • Highlight Your Students’ Growth: Let your students step beyond the classroom and demonstrate what they’ve built and learned in a real-world, competitive setting.
  • Enhance Your School’s STEM Reputation: Being part of WSRO sends a clear message. Your school is preparing future innovators.
  • Connect with a Larger Ecosystem: From educators and tech mentors to fellow STEM-forward institutions, WSRO connects your school with a vibrant learning community.

It’s time to take the skills you’ve been nurturing and let them shine. Because when your students win, your school wins too.

Important tools like PictoBlox, Quarky, and More in WSRO 2025

Pictoblox and Quarky at WSRO 2025

What makes WSRO 2025 especially exciting for our community is the use of tools students already know and love.

  • Quarky: A compact yet powerful learning robot, Quarky lets students dive into real-world electronics, automation, AI, and robotics. From sensors to servos, it offers everything students need to build intelligent systems.
  • PictoBlox: An easy-to-use coding platform that supports both block-based and Python coding. It helps students program Quarky and other systems, apply AI models, and build interactive projects.
  • Learning Continuity: If your students have completed workshops, classroom activities, or project work with these tools, WSRO is a natural next step. They’ll feel right at home tackling challenges using familiar platforms.

In short, WSRO isn’t asking students to learn something new overnight; it’s asking them to apply what they already know, creatively and confidently.

Rewards, Recognition, and Real Impact of WSRO
