FAQs on Quarky Intellio
– Makers, tinkerers and hobbyists who love building with LEGO-style blocks and want to add AI/AR.
– Home learners (ages 10+) and parents looking for STEM/robotics kits.
– Educators or Innovation Labs looking for an advanced robotics kit for student projects.
– Innovators who want to experiment with AI, computer vision, AR overlays and coding in a modular way.
You can connect Quarky Intellio to PictoBlox through 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB-C. It does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi band.
Yes. Many AI and TinyML projects run directly on the device — perfect for classrooms or workshops without continuous Wi-Fi. You can use it in Bluetooth or USB Serial mode, or run it in standalone mode (e.g., saving images to SD card). It needs Wi-Fi to stream camera and audio feed to PictoBlox or to internet.
Yes. It can stream video and audio over internet through Wi-Fi using the Quarky Intellio Web Server.
The frame rate and quality depend on Wi-Fi strength and power supply.
Quarky Intellio comes with a 1000mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery. It lasts 3.5 hours while streaming camera feed continuously over Wi-Fi.
Quarky Intellio needs a motor driver to control motors. It communicates with the motor driver through I2C protocol.
While a Raspberry Pi is a versatile general-purpose computer, Quarky Intellio is a specialized sensory hub. The key difference is integration: with Intellio, the camera, mic, speaker, and wireless connectivity are pre-assembled, and optimized to work together seamlessly out-of-the-box, saving you hours of setup and troubleshooting.
– Built-in camera, mic and AR support for modern AI/AR experiences.
– LEGO-compatible building system for creative freedom and modularity.
– Dual coding modes: beginner (blocks) + advanced (Python).
– Designed for home-learning, makerspaces, and school labs — bridging fun and future skills.
– Backed by STEMpedia’s learning ecosystem (tutorials, courses, community), which adds value.
You can code using:
– Block-based drag-and-drop coding (ideal for beginners)
– Python scripting (for more advanced users)
Quarky Intellio has the access to PictoBlox and it’s diverse range of extensions.
You’ll also get access to online tutorials and a learning portal.
Absolutely! These kits are ideal for classroom activities, innovation labs, home-learning sessions or maker-spaces.
Teachers can integrate it into lessons on AI and AR with Coding and Robotics. We will also provide educator resources and lesson plans through our learning portal.
It supports Technic-compatible DC motors (4–5V) with JST Connectors (included in the Rover Kit) for movement and servo motors for precise control. Encoders are not included.
Yes. Intellio supports Python with which you can deploy TinyML models trained using platforms like Edge Impulse.
Yes, via a motor driver included in the Mini Expansion Board (included in the Rover Kit) supported by inbuilt extensions in both Block Coding and Python environments.
Designed for classroom use, Intellio is encased in high quality Polycarbonate and has undergone drop and robustness testing to ensure durability.
Intellio is a self-sufficient programmable board that with an i/o port and is supported by several PictoBlox extensions like AI based object detection that doesn’t require an internet connection. It can further support edge-computing tasks that can fully run offline once the code is uploaded. However, to unlock its full potential like GPT-based features you will require an internet connection.
The LMS is expected to launch in mid-January and is currently being piloted with students.
The first batch of kits will begin shipping in January.
Quarky Intellio includes high fidelity sensors viz – camera and microphone fora strong focus on AI, computer vision, and AR-based DIY learning. Essentially, Intellio is like an upgraded version of Quarky that provides learners the evolved ability of AI-centric innovation in their robot designs. Intellio combined with Quarky increases its capabilities multifold.
Yes. With the upcoming Quarky Connect extension, you’ll be able to connect up to 16 devices for coordinated multi-robot tasks like robot parades or warehouse simulations.
