Quarky is a powerful, portable device that allows users to create complex projects with its 3.7V Li–ion battery support, two tactile switches, five capacitive touch sensors, two infrared sensors, and general–purpose input–output pins. It includes 35 programmable RGB LEDs in a 7×5 grid for creating animations, writing text, and displaying patterns, as well as a good-quality speaker for human-like audio or buzzing. Additionally, it has Wi–Fi and Bluetooth compatibility, and multipurpose input/output pins that can be used to interface with any third–party sensors. Quarky also has protections for reverse polarity, overvoltage, and overcurrent.

We’ve ensured that we use high-quality materials while building Quarky. So the chances of it getting damaged are significantly less, but we’ve also provided a six-month warranty against manufacturer defects for the mainboard and a six-month warranty for the battery.

If you receive a defective piece, either our local distributors or our supply-chain team would reach out and arrange the exchange for you.

For coding Quarky, you’ve to use our platform named “PictoBlox.” It is compatible with Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS, Android, and Chromebook (launching soon). So, you can code and control your robots using any device you like, anytime and anywhere you want.

No, Quarky is an intuitive learning tool that is suitable for both novice and experienced coders. It is programmed using a graphical programming platform named PictoBlox which allows you to build your project by using Scratch as well as Python. In addition, the interactive graphical programming interface adds fun to the learning and makes the whole experience even more immersive.

Quarky comes with free online self-paced courses that teach complex concepts through fun and interactive DIY activities. We also provide a Get-Start booklet with the kits. 

Follow the given steps to redeem the enrollment key:

  1. If you’ve already registered at the STEMpedia Learning Center, then, then you can directly jump to step 3. Otherwise, please visit the STEMpedia Learning Center from here: https://ai.thestempedia.com/, click on the register button, and register yourself by filling in the details required.
  2. Open your Email Inbox and Verify yourself to activate your account.
  3. Visit Join a Learning Group Page from here: https://ai.thestempedia.com/join-a-learning-group. Enter your Username and Password to log in successfully.
  4. After successful login, Enter the Enrollment key in the space provided and click on “Redeem Code.”
  5. Hurray !! You have successfully enrolled.
  6. To access the content, please click on the “My Courses” tab on the left sidebar. Now, you will be able to see the sample educational content.

On Quarky, there are multiple Input and Output options available.

There are two methods to establish a connection between Quarky and PictoBlox:

  1. Serial Port (USB Connection)
  2. Bluetooth Port (Bluetooth Connection)
  3. ​​Choose the method that suits your preference and requirements to connect Quarky with PictoBlox.

    Serial Port

To connect with Serial Port, follow the following steps:

Step 1: Use type C cable and connect with Quarky

Step 2: Open your PictoBlox and select Quarky Board

Step 3: Go to the Connect tab next to Board 

 

The kit includes a set of recognition cards that can be utilized in a wide range of activities involving Quarky. These cards enable functionalities such as self-driving cars, autonomous delivery bots, traffic signal detectors, and more. They serve as valuable tools for engaging and exploring different applications with Quarky.

To reset Quarky, locate the reset button positioned above the charging port on the back side of the device. Follow these steps:

  1. Press and release the reset button.
  2. Quarky will initiate the reset process.

By performing this reset, Quarky will be restored to its default settings

Please follow the instructions to check the Quarky Firmware version.

Step 1: Connect your Quarky to the PictoBlox.

Step 2: Go to the Quarky palette and click on the setting icon as shown below in the image

Step 3: In the Quarky settings, click on the Check button to check the firmware version.

If your Quarky device is not appearing on the Serial Port, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Cable Check: Ensure that you are using the correct cable for connecting Quarky to your computer and that the cable is functioning properly. If possible, try using a different cable to rule out any cable-related issues.
  2. Power LED Check: Check if the power LED on Quarky is illuminated, indicating that it has power. If the LED is lit, proceed to the next step. If not, ensure that your USB connection is properly established and check the Device Manager in your computer’s settings to ensure the USB port is recognized.
  3. Driver Installation: Click on the provided link to download the drivers specifically designed for Quarky. Once downloaded, install the drivers on your computer to facilitate proper communication between Quarky and your Serial Port.

By following these steps, you can troubleshoot the issue of Quarky not being visible on the Serial Port.

The battery life of Quarky varies depending on its usage. Whether it is being used for display purposes, running motors, or a combination of both, the battery life will vary. On average, with basic applications, Quarky can run for up to 2 hours.
